Education

Beacon of Hope College (BOH), a boarding school operated by Pilgrim in Soroti, Uganda, provides an excellent Christian education for 500 former refugees and disadvantaged young people, many of whom are former child soldiers. In addition to academics, students receive room and board, medical treatment, clothing, trauma counseling and mentoring to become leaders in their communities. The students' standardized test scores were ranked second among 100 local schools in last year's testing. Pilgrim would love to be able to expand the school's curriculum to include vocational training for students.

Pilgrim's second education project is the formation of Teso University. This region of Uganda is the only one without a four-year accredited university. Presently Pilgrim is pursuing the goal of providing Christian higher education for deserving students in Northeastern Uganda.
