Public Health

Pilgrim's public health programs seek to demonstrate Christ's love through medical care in locales without access to such services. The Beacon Medical Center provides preventative and acute care including trauma and HIV/AIDS counseling for the townspeople in Soroti, Uganda, and for staff and students of Beacon of Hope College. Using the clinic as a home base, the Pilgrim mobile medical team delivers health care and trauma counseling to people in remote villages and IDP camps in the region. In 2008, Pilgrim launched an aggressive campaign to eradicate malaria; two districts have been covered to date, and the resulting drop in malaria cases are very encouraging.
