Statement Of Faith
The idea of a pilgrim is well captured in Hebrews 11:13: "These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth."
A pilgrim is a traveler focused on reaching a certain destination; all Christians are called to be pilgrims as we journey through this short life towards our heavenly home.
As pilgrims we hope to follow the gospel truly, to love without hypocrisy, to care for the poor, to resist evil and injustice, and to live and die truly in the service of Christ, with cheerfulness, dignity, righteousness, and grace.
We feel called to live lightly on the earth, and to leave the place better for our passage.
We find dignity in offering ourselves as servants: our joy is full when we willingly sacrifice our time, energy and resources to those who are in need.
Pilgrim's Statement of Faith
We believe in one God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be the Word of God written and to contain all things necessary to salvation.
We accept the Apostle's and Nicene Creeds as the sufficient statement of the Christian faith.
We understand these creeds to affirm especially:
The reconciliation of sinful man to the righteous God through the objective atonement achieved for us in the suffering and death of His Son Jesus Christ on the Cross at Calvary.
The salvation by grace alone of all those who through faith put their trust in Christ's sacrifice.
The bodily resurrection of Jesus on the third day, and his future coming in glory to judge the living and dead.
The bestowal of the Holy Spirit upon the Church which is both Christ's Body visible on earth and the whole communion of saints in heaven.
We welcome fellowship as brothers and sisters in the Lord with all who share these commitments.
