Families Against Malaria

We all know what it’s like when the whole family gets sick.

In the US, we blame the flu. We call for bed rest, tea, and chicken soup.

But if you lived in Uganda, you’d worry about malaria. It starts like the flu, with a fever and digestive problems. Then it gets worse: some people say it feels like your blood is on fire. You need medicine right away. For babies, young kids, pregnant women, or anyone else with a weakened immune system, it can quickly escalate to severe anemia, seizures, brain damage… and even death.

We won’t stand for it. Pilgrim Africa is fighting this disease with a new program called Families Against Malaria. We’re combining powerful interventions in a new way to crash the malaria parasite population, and then keep it down.

Indoor Spraying + Universal Treatment + Health Workers

We’ve received a 2.49 million dollar grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to roll out this strategy in Katakwi, Uganda. This program will protect 34,000 people in the next 3.5 years!

But it’s not fully funded yet, and we need your help.

We’re asking American families to pledge $10/month for this project. That’s enough to protect a Ugandan family of four from malaria. We’re literally reaching across the world, family-to-family.

Can your family pledge to protect a Ugandan family? Are you willing to share this opportunity with your friends online? Together, we can save lives.
